Cedric Deon Burgess

Mr. Cedric D. Burgess, age 37 of Columbia, MD, departed this life on Friday, February 19, 2010 at his home.
A native of Halifax County, NC, born August 6, 1972, he was the son of Clarence Burgess, Jr. and Helen Yvonne Jenkins.
Cedric's Educational Background: Weldon, NC, Belgium (SHAPE), Augusta, GA, Arlington, VA and Manassas, VA; 1990 Graduate of Nurenberg High School, Nurenberg, West Germany; attended NC State University, Raleigh, NC; 1999 Cum Laude Graduate of NC A & T State University, Greensboro, NC.
His Religious Background included: The United Gospel Fellowship-West Chapel of Shape Belgium, Holy Light United Baptist Church, Manassas, VA and The Church of God in Christ, Nurenberg, West Germany.
His Military Career: Honorably Discharged from the United States Army (1999) and received Basic Training at Ft. Dix, NJ and went on to study and graduate from the US Army Intelligence School, Ft. Devens, MA.
Cedric's Employment Career: Currently employed by the US Government with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and formerly with United States Patent Office.
On April 11, 2008, Cedric married Nishmer Kimberly Chisolm Govine and together they shared many special and happy moments.
He is lovingly survived by his wife: Nishmer Burgess; his daughter: Alexus Woods; step-sons: Kummih and Kwame Govine; parents: Benjamin and Helen Y. Brown and Clarence Burgess, Jr.; siblings: Chantavia and Chantelle Brown and Travis Love; step-sister: Takysa Ringold; grandparents: Clarence, Sr. and Ella Mae Burgess and Isaac Brown, Sr.; in-laws: Henry, Jennifer and Tremaine Chisolm; aunts and uncles: Linda and Guster Underdue, Michael and Clementine Jenkins, Tony and Leperthia Jenkins, Paul and Karen Burgess, Dennis and Sharon Garner, Dozene and Leslie Smith, Gwendolyn Sweat, Joyce and Earnest Williams, Joan Cain, Dora Patterson, Lawrence and Sandy Bradley, Isaac, Jr. and Barbara Brown, Doris Towsend, Cornell and Laverne Brown, Sandra Worthy, Marsha Darby, Ronald Fletcher, Gregoary and Lesa Fletcher; special cousins: Antonio Underdue, Travis Roberts and Leteasha Burgess; host of other cousins, relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. from the sanctuary of Twilight Missionary Baptist Church, Weldon, NC.
Interment will take place in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

DIRECTIONS: From the Northern Virginia, Washington, DC-Baltimore, MD area. Take I-95 South to Exit 171 (4th Exit after crossing the NC Stateline) in North Carolina. Make left turn at the top of the exit, go across the bridge. Go through 2 stop lights. Proceed to caution light (at crossroad) make right turn onto Aurelian Springs Rd. Go about a quarter of a mile, church is on the left.
