Dorothy Louise Jennings Harris
(April 27, 1932 - April 9, 2012)
Mrs. Dorothy J. Harris, age 79 of Garysburg, NC, peacefully departed this life on Monday, April 9, 2012 in the serenity of her home.
Dorothy, a daughter of the late Frank Jennings and Ora Mae Jordan, was born April 27, 1932 in Seaboard, NC.
She received her education at Coates High School, Seaboard, NC.
Around the age of 12, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized by the late Rev. McKinley Nicholson and joined Piney Grove Baptist Church.
She met and married James Harris, Jr. of Jackson, NC and they had three children together.
"Teeny Baby" spent her life nourishing, helping and supporting children. She incorporated that desire into what would become her life's work; spending 29 years working in the Northampton County Schools Cafeteria. This behavior also manifested itself through 12 years of foster care with at least 25 children.
