Joe Nathan Fenner

Mr. Joe N. Fenner, 67 of Roanoke Rapids, NC departed this life on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Joe, a son of the late Fred Lee Fenner and Catherine Bell Fenner, was born August 30, 2008 in Halifax County, NC.

His education was obtained through the public schools of Halifax County.

At an early age he accepted Christ and joined Quankey Baptist Church.

For many years, he was employed in the textile industry.

Joe is survived by his wife: Mattie S. Fenner of the home; five children: Kelvin Fenner (Kimberly), Marvin, Undra and Bobby Fenner, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Shirrell Fenner Marks (Lawrence, Jr.) of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren: Lawrence, III, Kevia, Kelley and Sherica; two sisters: Ophelia Lee and Edna Powell (Timothy) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three brothers: Jake Edwards (Evelyn) of Jacksonville, NC, William Fenner of Hyattsville, MD and Robert Edwards (Catherine) of Baltimore, MD; a special nephew: Lamont Fenner of Kernersville, NC; two aunts: Pearlie Browning and Annie Bell of Newport News, VA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Odessa Hilton (Elake) and Darbie Lee Shearin (Delois) of Weldon, NC, Hazelene Gary (Casper) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Florine Jones of Ossining, NY, Randolph Manley (Mary) and Waline Edwards of Littleton, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 12:00 Noon in the sancctuary of Quankey Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph L. Battle officiating.

Interment will follow in the Edwards Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Mrs. Mattie S. Fenner and family are receiving comfort and assistance from Ms. Bettie G. Cofield and Staff of Cofield Mortuary.
