Mr. Roderick Samuel Shields, Jr., age 38 of Frederick, MD, departed this life on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD.

Roderick, son of Roderick Samuel Shields, Sr. and Glenda Ballard Shields, was born November 9, 1973 in Nash County, North Carolina.

He was reared and educated in Raleigh, NC.

On September 20, 2003, Rick was united in Holy Matrimony to Stephanie LaTrich Brown of Reidsville, NC and they were blessed with two beautiful children: Tahlik RaShaad "TK" and ZaNyiah Brielle.

For ten years, he worked as Store Manager for Footlocker and seven years for Spring, Inc.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Willie L. Ballard, Frederick P. and Edith Morris Shields.

Memories remain with his wife: Stephanie B. Shields; his children: Tahlik RaShaad Shields and ZaNyiah Brielle Shields; his parents: Roderick S. Shields, Sr. and Glenda Ballard Shields; his brother: Jolon C. Shields and wife, Sonnia L. Thomas Shields; his maternal grandmother; aunts and uncles and many paternal and maternal cousins and friends.

A viewing will take place on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Cofield Mortuary.

A Graveside Memorial will follow in the Cedarview Cemetery, Enfield, NC.
