Irene Adams Levy

Mrs. Irene A. Levy, age 97, departed this life on Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Florida.

Irene, a daughter of the late James Henry Adams and Lizzie Irene Adams, was born September 3, 1914.

Being one of nine children, Irene excelled in her endeavors. Upon graduating from college, she moved to New York where she met and married the love of her life, Sam Levy. They shared a fulfilling time together, traveling and relishing in their Florida lifestyle until his untimely death.

Nevertheless, Irene continued to enjoy her family and friends. She knew how to have a good time and truly loved being pampered. In her latter years when she eventually became unable to care for herself, she was blessed to receive loving care and advocacy from her niece, Marlene and husband, Joshua Rycus.

Treasured memories will remain with her sister: Helen Adams Barnes of Laurel, MD; her brother: Garland Adams of Roanoke Rapids, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.

May her soul find joy and God's everlasting grace.

A Graveside Memorial will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Brown Family Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC. Rev. Joseph L. Battle, Pastor of Quankey Missionary Baptist Church, will bring words of comfort.

The Cofield Family and Staff extends their heartfelt sympathy and continued support to the Adams Family during and after this period of bereavement.

A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me". Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Coninue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don't worry about falls. I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes we're together again.
