Zollie Ellis Rawls

Mr. Zollie E. Rawls, age 73 of Jackson, NC, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at his home.

Zollie, a son of the late Angus and Zenobia Greene Rawls, was born February 28, 1938 in Northampton County, NC.

He received his formal education through the public schools of Northampton County.

At an early age he accepted Christ as his Savior, was baptized and joined Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church and recently rededicated his life to Christ.

For quite a number of years, he worked in the logging industry and gained much respect from his employer and fellow co-workers.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Josephine Person and their union was blessed with nine children.

He is lovingly survived by his wife: Josephine Person Rawls of the home; his children: Darnell Rawls of Durham, NC, David Rawls and Bridget Rawls of Weldon, NC, Louis Rawls and Rosemary Person of Jackson, NC, Dennis Hicks (Michelle) of Greensboro, NC, Marie Miles of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Alma Parker (Leroy) of Skippers, VA and Marvin Rawls (Mary) of Garysburg, NC; twenty-seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; four sisters: Essie Wright (Johnnie) of Emporia, VA, Arlee Rawls of Yonkers, NY, Maehue Frazier (Glen) of Garner, NC and Negolia Edwards (John) of Margarettsville, NC; two brothers: Angus Rawls (Margaret) and Ned Rawls (Annabelle) of Emporia, VA; his aunt and uncle: Leah Ramsey and Zollie Rawls; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Homegoing Services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 12:00 Noon from the sanctuary of Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Dr. Franklin D. Williams, Jr. will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The Cofield Family and Staff extends their heartfelt sympathy and continued support to the Person and Rawls Family during and after this period of bereavement.
