or over 90 years, the Cofield family has provided loyal and trustworthy service throughout Eastern North Carolina and Southside Virginia.
In 1910, the business was started in Enfield, North Carolina by the late Mr. Henry Cofield and served the Enfield area with dignity and devotion.
One of his sons, the late Mr. A.C. Cofield, Sr. and his wife, the late Reather McWilliams Cofield, relocated to Weldon in 1934 and established Cofield Funeral Home of Weldon and served as owners and operators until his retirement in 1971.
It was at this time that his daughter, Bettie G. Cofield became manager. Since that time, along with her brother, Augustus C. Cofield, Jr. and members of their staff, they have continued this rich heritage by providing professional, caring and dedicated service to families in Halifax and Northampton Counties and the Southside Virginia area.
In addition to serving families in their time of need, the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Cofield, Sr., Zenobia F. Cofield, operates Flowers and Gifts by Gia. She, too, provides a compassionate and dedicated service to meet the needs of those desiring floral tributes in memory of their loved ones. She also provides gifts and arrangements for all other occasions.
The family owned and operated establishment of Cofield Mortuary continues to provide caring, compassionate and dignified service to those they serve because of the "rich heritage" founded some 90 years ago.
